Pre-Ballet 2's, 3's, 4's

  • Students explore creative movement and basic gross motor skills.
  • Learning to take turns and follow instructions are also a large portion of this class

K-5 Ballet

  • Ballet basics are introduced including foot positions and terms.
  • Students continue to fine tune their gross motor skills

Primary I:

  • This level is for all returning K-5 Ballet
  • Begin introducing basic ballet terminology and technique

Primary II :

  • Begin ballet steps using more fine motor skills
  • Begin to put basic steps into combinations
  • Continue to develop and add to basic skills and technical ability at the barre and center

Primary IIA:

  • For returning students who have completed a full year in Primary IA ballet class (currently Tuesday 5pm ).

Primary IIIA:

  • Focus on correct body placement at the Barre and center
  • Build a broad base of ballet steps at the Barre and beginning in center
  • Begin refining Ballet technique

Primary IV:

  • Continued focus on body placement
  • Focus is placed on Self awareness where students learn to correct themselves
  • Begin introducing Intermediate ballet steps

Intermediate I:

  • This is a pre-Pointe level class
  • Spelling and definitions for ballet terms; Students are required to bring a notebook to class every week and are tested on Ballet terminology
  • Strengthening the body to prepare the students for Pre Pointe
  • Ballet Vocabulary is the main focus in this level

Intermediate II ~ Pre Pointe:

  • This is an hour and a half class.
  • Isolated strengthening exercises to prepare students for Pointe
  • Pointe will be introduced in January
  • Combining intermediate ballet steps into combinations of movement

Intermediate II ~Pointe I:

  • This is an hour and a half class.
  • Integrating Beginning Pointe work into the Classical Ballet Class
  • Continued advancing technical ability and knowledge
  • Preparation for two recital pieces: One En Pointe and One in Classical shoes
  • This level is encouraged to take 2 ballet classes each week ( recommended for second class :Intermediate 2/3)

Intermediate III~ Pointe II:

  • This is a two hour class: 1 hour 15 minutes of ballet, 45 minutes of Pointe
  • This level is pre-advanced. Students are required to take two ballet classes a week, to maintain strength and advancement of ballet technique. (recommended for second class: Intermediate II ~ Pointe I)
  • Focus on Advanced Ballet Vocabulary, introducing complex steps
  • Preparation for two recital pieces: one En Pointe and one in Classical shoes

Advanced ~ Ballet and Pointe:

  • This is a two hour class mixing ballet and Pointe work. Students are required to take two classes a week.
  • Focus is placed on advanced technique, performance quality, and working on solo performances.

Primary I Tap

  • This is an introduction to beginning tap steps and rhythms
  • Focus will be placed on the fine motor skills.

Primary I Jazz

  • Introduction to basics in jazz technique and steps

Primary II Tap/Jazz

  • Emphasis is on proper execution of beginning terms and combinations
  • Gross motor skills and fine motor skills are explored separately and together

Primary III Tap/Jazz

  • Tap - Students will continue honing tap skills and will be introduced to varying tap tempos and rhythms while working on balance.
  • Jazz - Students will begin to work on balance and will continue expanding their jazz vocabulary.

Primary IV Tap/Jazz

  • Tap- Students learn the Time Steps; begin working on balance, introduced to intermediate level terms
  • Jazz- Students will be introduced to the various sides of jazz dance, including lyrical and hip hop.

Intermediate I Tap/Jazz

  • Tap - Students are required to wear a 1 inch heeled tap shoe. Further work on intermediate level terms with focus on performance speed and rhythm.
  • Jazz - Basic hip-hop terminology, continue working turns and intermediate level terms

Intermediate II Tap

  • Introduction to Street tap, and continue fine tuning intermediate level steps

Intermediate III Tap

  • Students will work on tap choreography and creating their own tap rhythms as well as learning new advanced turns and continuing to work on advanced steps.

Teen Jazz

  • Teen jazz will be an over view of the many sides of jazz dance, including hip hop, classical jazz, Broadway jazz, and lyrical. Focus will be placed on proper execution of technique which allows dancers to move freely.
